COL Mark Zais, PhD, Chief Data Scientist
U.S. Special Operations Command

Colonel Mark Zais, PhD is an Active Duty Army Officer and serves as the Chief Data Scientist at U.S. Special Operations Command.

Mark Zais has over 24 years of military service as an Army Aviator and Operations Research Systems Analyst (ORSA). Mark spent the first part of his career in multiple assignments as a Longbow Apache (AH-64D) attack helicopter pilot before transitioning to the Operations Research military specialty. His Army ORSA assignments include Department of the Army Staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense (Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation), and U.S. Special Operations Command. Prior to his current position, Mark served as a U.S. Army War College Fellow in Information Technology and Strategy at Carnegie Mellon University. His academic and professional research focuses on data science, machine learning, metaheuristics, and simulation-optimization. Mark has a degree in Operations Research from the United States Military Academy (West Point), Master’s degrees in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Operations Research) from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Inderpal Bhandari, Global Chief Data Officer
IBM

Inderpal Bhandari is the IBM Global Chief Data Officer, where he has leveraged his extensive experience to lead IBM’s data strategy to ensure IBM remains the number one AI and hybrid cloud provider for the enterprise. Under his leadership, the Cognitive Enterprise Blueprint was created, a roadmap for IBM’s clients on their own transformation journeys.

Inderpal brings to IBM more than 20 years of experience in leadership roles at such leading companies as Cambia Health Solutions and Express Scripts/Medco Health Solutions. Prior to joining IBM, Inderpal served as Senior Vice President and Chief Data Officer of Cambia Health Solutions where he led the development of Cambia’s data strategy and drove the transformation of the company’s consumer experience strategies.

Prior to that, Inderpal served as Vice President of knowledge solutions and Chief Data Officer at Express Scripts/Medco Health Solutions, where he was responsible for maximizing the utility of the company’s data and its readiness to respond to emerging market trends. Before that, he founded Virtual Gold, growing the company into an international market leader for analytics in call centers and professional sports.

Inderpal is an expert in transforming data into business value and improved customer experiences by delivering strategic, innovative capabilities that use analytic insights to enable growth and productivity. In 2017, he was named U.S. Chief Data Officer of the Year by the CDO Club, and has been featured as an industry expert by Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, US News & World Report, CNN and FOX.

Inderpal earned his Master of Science Degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and holds a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

Bharti Rai, Vice President and Head, Insights, Analytics, Data & Commercial Operations
Novartis

Bharti is an accomplished and versatile leader with 25 years of experience in Healthcare and Big 4 Management Consulting. She has been at the forefront of strategy, business and digital transformations to champion data-driven decision making and customer centricity with a dynamic and collaborative leadership style.

In Novartis since 2018, as VP of Commercial Operations, Insights, Data and Analytics, Bharti led the vision and creation of the US function from ground up for competitive advantage. Prior to Novartis, she held roles at Bayer Healthcare across Internal Consulting, Process Re-Engineering, Digital Health, CRM, and Chief Data Officer. She was also at Deloitte Consulting in the Public Sector practice, leading multi-million-dollar initiatives.

She is recognized as an industry thought leader and is the recipient of numerous industry awards and accolades.

Nicolas Diaz Amigo, Chief Innovation and Data Officer
City of Syracuse

Nicolas Diaz Amigo is the Chief Innovation and Data Officer for the City of Syracuse. He has extensive public sector experience working with local governments in how to expand the capacity to incorporate innovation and data-driven practices. In his current role, he oversees a portfolio that includes citywide data infrastructure and policies, performance management and process improvement.

Jodi Enggasser, Vice President, Enterprise & Corporate Solutions – Head of HR Systems
Cushman & Wakefield

Jodi Enggasser is VP, Head of Global HR Systems for Cushman & Wakefield. She has over 20 years of HRIS and IT experience, developing data and systems strategies to support HR and Business priorities, streamlining technology ecosystems, and building roadmaps to achieve a seamless end-to-end People Experience. Jodi lives in Duxbury, Massachusetts with her husband and three sons.

Matthew Monahan, Director of Product Management
Zaloni

Matthew is a product leader with 20 years of experience in software development. With a focus on the strategic shift to SaaS and hybrid data platforms, his experience includes building DataOps tools at Progress DataDirect, IBM Watson Health, and Zaloni. Matthew is passionate about delivering a great user experience all the way through the DataOps pipeline, from sourcing to governing, to monetizing data.

As the head of product management for Zaloni, Matthew sets the vision and strategy for Zaloni’s award-winning Data Governance platform. He and his team have launched Zaloni’s first SaaS offering, Arena Concourse, and partnered closely with AWS to provide their customers with robust data governance on top of their data lake services.
