With more than 25 years of international management experience in Information Technology, Information Security, and Change Management, Carlo is currently Global Director IT audit at EssilorLuxottica a global leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of ophthalmic lenses, frames, and sunglasses including the legendary Ray-Ban and Oakley, lens technology brands including Varilux and Transitions, and world-class retail brands including Sunglass Hut and LensCrafters as well. In 2020, EssilorLuxottica had over 140,000 employees and consolidated revenues of Euro 14.4 billion. Carlo holds a Master’s Degree in Business Sciences and several professional certifications, including C-CISO. He also has extensive knowledge and experience of ISO27k, Change Management, Technology Innovation, and Transformation. He previously worked in several industries in different companies such as Packared Bell / Nec, Wolters Kluwer, Iddink, Monuta, and Trivento.

Seasoned Machine Learning expert (UC Berkeley MIDS 2022), Data Science Engineering Director at Audible Amazon, and hands-on e-commerce architect with over 20 years of experience in digital transformation, cloud strategy, omnichannel solutions, and modernization for major retail companies. Industry-recognized thought leadership on cloud migration and strategy, deep technology, architecture skills, and building relationships with C-level executives. Have built very complex solutions for the retail domain with cross-functional and cross-geographic teams. As a Masters’s student at UC Berkeley, I build out Machine learning models using research design principles, Applied Machine learning algorithms (supervised, unsupervised, Deep learning Neural nets) architecting data pipelines using Kappa architecture, and building out production-ready Machine learning models using statistical techniques (Jupyter notebooks, Python data frames, and packages). Very strong Python Django experience and GraphQL-based React front-end experience in building out e-commerce solutions. Recently co-authored a paper for UC Berkeley NLP work highlighting BERT architecture and using improvements for aspect-based sentiment analysis.
