Dr. Jan Walker is Vice President, Strategy, Innovation and Chief Information Officer at West
Park Healthcare Centre in Toronto, Ontario. In that role, she provides leadership and direction
for information management and technology at the Centre. She also leads the organization’s
strategic planning, innovation, and evaluation functions. As West Park is currently in a
redevelopment phase, Jan is responsible for the vision and development of the Information,
Communication, Automation and Technology (ICAT) strategy for the new hospital building, as
well as the Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE).

Eric Whaley, Chief Information Officer
Wolseley Canada Inc.

Eric Whaley is a business technology executive with a history of leveraging technologies and building inspired teams to renovate and propel businesses to the next level of growth and expansion. He has deep experience in business strategy development, risk identification and mitigation. He is recognized for leadership in identifying goals, and instituting methodologies and approaches for collaboration. Eric enjoys keeping connected to the startup community and emerging technologies through his work; through partnerships with educational institutions; and through participating in community forums. Eric is currently the CIO at Wolseley Canada. With his teammates at Wolseley Canada, he is growing the business through innovation, improved customer service, and leveraging technologies. Prior to Wolseley, Eric held CIO roles within some well-known financial institutions in Canada. He is currently on the Board of Directors at Community Innovation Lab. Eric enjoys spending his free time with his family, playing sports and keeping abreast of disruptive technologies and the impacts they have on business. He was an Auxiliary Police Officer in Halton Region where he served from 2013 to 2016.

David Stevens, Vice President, and Chief Information Officer
Munich Re New Ventures North America

David Stevens is Vice President, and Chief Information Officer and leads the technology, marketing, customer experience and business development for the innovation division of Canada’s largest reinsurance company. A senior digital leader with a strong background in e-commerce, social media, financial services, insurance, and healthcare. He is delivering exceptional results by creating a strong strategic vision and motivating teams to execute on key tactics that are required to transform and grow businesses with a focus on customer experience, e-commerce, technology, and marketing.

Adina Saposnik, Vice President, Technology and Chief Information Security Officer
eHealth Ontario

Adina Saposnik is responsible for leading the strategy and program implementation pertaining to the rationalization, standardization, interoperability, scalability and continuous operation of eHealth Ontario’s computing environment. She also has accountability for the Cyber Security portfolio with the mandate to establish and maintain the enterprise vision, strategy, and program to ensure digital assets and technologies are adequately protected.

A professional engineer (P.Eng), Adina has a broad range of experience gained by serving in leadership roles across the financial, telecommunications and retail sectors. Her credentials include a Bachelor degree in Engineering (B,Sc.EE), Executive MBA from the Rotman School of Management and certifications in Strategic Leadership (University of Toronto) and project management (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI).​

Samer Adi, Vice President, Infrastructure and Chief Information Security Officer
Interac Corp.

Samer Adi is currently the VP Infrastructure and CISO for Interac. 

Before joining Interac, Samer was the head of information security and internal controls for a large retail company in Canada known for their books and music speciality. He lead a team of security professionals to provide Indigo with the best information security protection possible and maintain compliance with regulator’s requirements. Prior , Adi was the CISO for the Canadian office of a global IT consultancy company. He managed a team responsible for providing complete cybersecurity services externally to clients and internally within a global structure. Adi was also the CISO for the largest payment processing company in Canada. He was able to maintain PCI-DSS complaint status for the company for 2012-2014 and PA-DSS status for all their payment applications. In addition, he served with the largest network provider for white label ATMs with the same capacity. He has more than 30 years’ experience in information security and information technology infrastructure support.

Samer holds a master of science in computer science and information technology and has published two books in computer maintenance that are part of the Grade 11 and 12 curriculum.

In his spare time, Samer helps grassroots soccer players to advance their skills to become better athletes.

Gaston Siri serves as the Chief Technology Officer of Flexiti Financial Inc. Mr. Siri has extensive experience in Technology, Analysis and Development of Multi-Tier Systems (Dynamic Mind, Telefonica, Citibank, Grant-Thornton).

Leyla Samiee, Senior Director, Technology Platform Core Services
Thomson Reuters

Leyla Samiee is the Head of Technology at Thomson Reuters. She brings more than 22 years of hands-on experience in information systems, information technologies, and operations to the company. She’s been providing strategic leadership for the continued development of innovative, robust, and secure information technology platforms for various customer segments. She is a former Lead Technology Officer of Bank of Montreal, leading series of technology transformations, to build the backbone of Customer and Product data and services capability, with Data, API and microservices at heart of her strategy, enabling innovative data analytics and AI.

Leyla has extensive working experience in different industry starting from imaging to telecom, banking and data hubs. She also serves as technology advisor for Start-up companies including ‘Parlay Ideas’ an innovative discussion platform to make a dent in the old education system. Leyla holds a dual Major in Computer science and Data Statistics. She also has finished Professional Education on Data Science and AI from MIT and Johns Hopkins University.

Thomas WardmanVice President, Information Technology
The Royal Conservatory 

Thomas is responsible for ensuring the proactive design, build and operation of information technology services for The Royal Conservatory of Music. Directing and supporting the Information Technology department, he oversees a variety of platforms and technologies to support e-commerce, music examination capabilities, student information systems, signage, live streaming, ERP and digital learning.

Thomas brings to The Royal Conservatory a diverse set of experiences gained from leadership roles in IT and consulting organizations. He has held roles at The University of Lethbridge, Nortel Networks, Hewlett-Packard Canada, Cognizant Technology Solutions and at The College of Family Physicians of Canada.

As a graduate of The University of Lethbridge, Thomas has also completed a number of certifications including being a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

Stefany Singh, Director, Digital Innovation
Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI)

Stefany is the Director, Digital Innovation at the Canadian Institute for Health Information. Spearheading digital transformation, she is readying the organization for its digital future in Canadian Health care. She is leading CIHI’s digital strategy focused on human centered design with lean/agile approaches to delivery. 

Ms. Singh has experience in, mobile, product and channel management, big data, digital content, social strategy and execution and has held digital management roles leading transformation and new to market initiatives with TD Asset Management, TD Bank, Canadian Tire Corporation and Rogers Media Inc.

She has an Executive MBA from Queen’s University, certified as a Digital Strategist from UBC, and certified as a Digital Transformation specialist from MIT.

Farooq Naiyer, Chief Information Security Officer
Orion Ontario’s Research and Innovation Network

Farooq is the CISO of the largest research and education network in Canada, The CISO role at ORION has been born out of a collaborative initiative supported by ORION and five of their client Universities and three Colleges in Ontario. The role provides this community with strategic security thought leadership, while bringing them tangible working programs and tools for compliance, risk management, a governance framework as well as delivery of broader shared security services. 

Farooq brings rich experience of more than 15 years in the area of cybersecurity, privacy, technology compliance and assurance.

Prior to joining ORION Farooq was part of the Cybersecurity and Privacy team at PwC, led IT Assurance teams for a leading retail giant in Canada, held leadership roles in leading financial institutions in the Middle East and South Asia, and had an association in Big 4 consulting firms in South Asia.

Claude Sam-Foh, Chief Enterprise Architect and Chief Cyber Security Officer
Financial Services Commission of Ontario

Claude Sam-Foh is the former Chief Enterprise Architect and Chief Cyber Security Officer with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. He has extensive business and IT knowledge, gained through more than 30 years’ practical experience in both fields.

His area of expertise encompasses enterprise architecture, information management, information security, privacy leadership, service management, portfolio, program and project management, business systems analysis and agile management.

Claude is currently an instructor at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies with a focus on enterprise architecture and cloud computing. He is also a contract lecturer at Ryerson University for the School of Information Technology Management since 1997.

Collaborates well with diverse team of business and technology partners possessing excellent communication skills interacting at senior executive levels. Achieved the CIO Award for performance excellence leading a large technology team of over 100 resources successfully delivering a complex multi-year program.

Bil Harmer, Americas Chief Information Security Officer
Zscaler

Bil Harmer is the Americas CISO at Zscaler.  In this role he engages security executives at a peer level to drive strategic change and facilitate industry wide collaboration on emerging security and privacy topics. While developing the Security and Data Protection program for SuccessFactors/SAP he pioneered the processes for security and privacy compliance used by Cloud vendors today.  Prior to joining Zscaler Harmer was the Chief Security Officer at GoodData Corp and the VP Security & Cloud Privacy Officer for the Cloud Division of SAP.  He has provided advisory services to Adallom, Integris, ShieldX Networks and Resolve Systems. He is CISSP, CISM and CIPP certified.
