Jim has worked in the technology and data space for over 25 years. He has managed IT initiatives and system development efforts at Microsoft and Intel, and was the CEO of two start-ups – Experience Vacations (Hospitality) and Loxly (international anonymous messaging platform). Today Jim leads Data Privacy, Compliance, and Risk for Apple Leisure Group which is comprised of fourteen different vertically integrated travel and hospitality companies.
Saad Bashir, Chief Technology Officer
City of Seattle
Saad Bashir was nominated by Mayor Durkan in Jan-2019 and officially confirmed by City Council in March-2019 as the City’s Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Saad’s team overseas a variety of technology related investments that run the daily operations of the corporation. Prior to Seattle, Saad was based in Canada’s capital, where he served as Director of Economic Development and Innovation and later as Chief Information Officer for the City of Ottawa.
Saad brings several years of experience in the private and public sectors. He has held positions with organizations including Citibank, Flextronics, Canadian Pacific, Nortel Networks and Calgary Economic Development. He is passionate about strategic planning, talent development, financial analysis and change management.
Saad has a degree in Computer Engineering from Queen’s University. He has held various volunteer board positions including most recently serving on the board of the international NGO, Oxfam Canada. He is also a 2013 recipient of “Forty Under 40” award.
Tarek Hoteit, Senior Director IT- Growth and Enablement
Banfield Pet Hospital
Tarek Hoteit, PhD, is Senior Director of Growth and Enablement at Banfield HQ office in Vancouver, Washington. Banfield, a Mars Inc company, is the largest privately owned pet hospital in the world with over 1000 hospitals across the United States. Dr Hoteit joined Banfield last August as the IT head for digital transformation, data science, innovation, and strategy. He has over twenty five years of experience in the technology industry. Prior to joining Banfield, he was the director of AI & innovation labs at Thomson Reuters in Dallas. He has a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Making, an MBA, and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt. He is also active in the IT community as a next gen technology evangelist and as a mentor to the IT youth generation.
Aiden Taheri, Former Vice President, Digital Transformation
Aiden Taheri is an outcome based IT Executive with experience across a diverse number of industries and enterprises ranging from mid-market firms up to Fortune 50 organizations. He is a specialist in people and technology transformation. Aiden has strategic thinking with a focus on technology enablement, identifying growth opportunities, reducing operating costs, and improving both customer and employee experience. He is passionate about building a culture that’s excited to help a company achieve its ambitions. As visionary leaders our thought leadership should include defining a strategy that aligns C-level and board executives with cultural transformation, shaping future business goals, and shifting the enterprise operating model to a more product centric focus where possible.
Kevin Morrison, Chief Information Security Officer, Director of Information Security and Architecture
Kevin Morrison is the Director of Information Security (CISO) and Architecture at Coinstar in Bellevue, WA. He was previously a Fortune 500 CISO at one of the largest home builders in the U.S., and prior to that as Head of Information Security at one of the oldest and largest law firms in the world. His background spans more than 22 years in IT with over 16 of them in Information and Cyber Security. Kevin’s passion for people and security has included building and leading teams focused on incident management, operations, DLP, mobility, forensics, compliance, policy, privacy, and business continuity in innovative and highly regulated environments across public and private industries.
Kevin has had the pleasure to present extensively within the Information Security community and has served on several advisory and governance boards, and in March 2015, he was selected by his peers as the ISE® Southeast People’s Choice Award Winner. He holds a B.S. in IT from UMass Lowell, and an MBA from Pacific Lutheran University, while maintaining CISSP, CISM, and CISA certifications.
Jerry Vergeront, Director for Risk and Cybersecurity
Jerry Vergeront is the Director of Risk and Cybersecurity at Seattle University. He came to SU from his own private law practice, after a cybersecurity career trajectory that has included both hands-on technical work as well as IT audit responsibilities. Jerry has held significant IT Security roles at Starbucks, Anitian Enterprise Security, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Premera Blue Cross. Jerry’s law education has focused on security and compliance practices. Jerry has CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) certifications, and is a veteran, having served in the Air Force for five years, including a role as a Cryptologic Linguist.
Gary Gooden, Chief Information Security Officer
Gary Gooden is currently the Chief Information Security Officer for Seattle Children’s (Hospital, Research, Foundation). He reports into the Chief Information Officer for Seattle Children’s.
In his current role Gary has been driving the IT Security Strategy while executing against a roadmap that was created by him in an effort to modernize the Information security footprint within the hospital, research and foundation environment both from a technology and governance perspective (inclusive of the technology for physical security). This is been done in close collaboration with other IT departments and related business areas within the larger enterprise environment.
Gary who joined Seattle Children’s in March of 2019 previously held a similar role at Children’s Hospital Los.
Prior to joining Seattle Children’s, Gary spent the last 26yrs at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Amgen, Mattel and The Walt Disney Company in several IT executive leadership roles within Information Systems Infrastructure and Application Development and delivery.
Daric Schweikart, Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Daric Schweikart Vice President and Chief Information Officer, joined Flow International in June 2009 and is responsible for leading Information Technology at Flow and with the parent company Shape Technologies . Prior to joining Flow , Mr. Schweikart held senior management positions at PEMCO , TrueBlue, Inc. (formerly Labor Ready), Washington Mutual and other Pacific Northwest companies. He is a graduate of Western Washington University with a B.A. in Accounting and Computer Science.
Sayee K. Vaitheesvaran, Chief Information Officer
Washington State Gambling Commission
Sayee Vaitheesvaran brings 25 years of technology and leadership experience in both private and government. He is the CIO and Director of Technology in Washington State Gambling commission.
Sayee has a Bachelor and Master degree in Computer Science and a MBA from University of Washington, Foster School of Business. He is also a certified project management professional. (PMP)
Among other past employers, he worked for Employment Security Department, Department of Transportation (WA State Agencies) and Chempoint.com in Bellevue (Startup Company), Univar, Walmart. Sayee has played multiple roles as a Programmer, Project Manager, Product manager, Director, Consultant and now as the CIO.
Michael Bush, Director
Michael Bush is a Director at Darktrace, the world’s leading AI company for cyber security, where he works with organizations across industries and scale. Examples include financial institutions ranging from credit unions to private banks with billions of assets under management, multinational manufacturing companies, and large gaming and hospitality organizations. Most recently, Michael has worked with Information Security Executives to implement an Insider Threat Prevention Program to satisfy Board level requirements. Michael earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at UC Berkeley.
